DG Khan: Food dept sells poisonous wheat violating court orders

The Punjab Food Department sold poisonous wheat violating the orders of the High Court.This wheat stock was declared poisonous after flood devastations in Dera Ghazi Khan, Dunya News reported.

According to details, thousand tons of wheat devastated during floods in Dera Ghazi Khan Division while 16 buffalos in Karachi and 4 in Faisalabad died after eating this poisonous wheat.The Multan High Court bench had ordered to stop the auction of poisonous wheat after these incidents but the food department violated the court ordered and restarted auctioning of this wheat which is still being loaded in trucks.This issue was raised in Dunya News programmes Hasb e Hal and News Watch, after which, Provincial Food Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor had assured to stop the auctioning of this wheat but nothing has been done so far in this regard.
