MDA agrees to pay elderly couple price for their land
The struggle of the protesting elderly couple proved fruitful
MULTAN (Dunya News) – Dunya News’s struggle regarding the elderly couple’s mistreatment by the Multan police has proved to be fruitful. The Multan Development Authority (MDA) has agreed to pay the couple the price for their land.
The elderly couple aged around 75 years was protesting against the land grab by an MDA official when they were mistreated by the police. Multan police tyrannized the 75 year old elderly couple and dragged them onto the roads.
The incident highlighted Punjab Police’s barbaric and unethical approach to handling matters yet again. The elderly couple was dragged on the road and was thrown in police van like criminals. The couple repeatedly requested the police to not act in the manner they were acting but the SHO and other police officials didn’t pay any heed.
After the news was aired on Dunya News, RPO and CPO took notice of the incident and ordered inquiry into the matter while suspending the involved police officials till further notice.
The inquiry report was demanded within 24 hours and will also be presented to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
