I respect Musharraf a lot but he has nothing to do with our party, says former Karachi mayor

KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Clearing the air about Pak Sarzameen Party’s (PSP) links with former President Pervez Musharraf, PSP chief Mustafa Kamal said that the last time he met Musharraf was nine years ago when Musharraf was still Pakistan’s president, reported Dunya News.

Talking to Kamran Shahid on Dunya News program ‘On the Front’, Mustafa Kamal said that Pervez Musharraf had nothing to do with his party. “We made [MQM founder] our enemy and put our lives at stake just to gift the party to Pervez Musharraf? This is inconceivable to me”, he said.

He said that he talked to Musharraf on phone some 4-5 years ago when a common friend of theirs was sitting with him and he talked to Musharraf on his friend’s phone. “That was the last time we talked to each other”, he said.

Responding to a question regarding his secret meetings with Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQMP) chief Dr Farooq Sattar, he said that he certainly talked with the MQM leader regarding the political alliance that was announced last week, and then unceremoniously fell apart the next day.

“I haven’t even brought to the fore even 2% of what I know. How much do they underestimate me? They think I have no tongue in my mouth. I speak up only when it gets impossible for me to stay quiet”, he said.

He said that if MQMP leaders really loved the founder of the party then they should have come out in his support and accept be jailed in his love. “But they love their seats. They fear [MQM founder]. That is why they are with him”, he said.
