Nawaz, Maryam, Safdar to appear in accountability court today

Islamabad police have chalked out tight security arrangements for todays hearing.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar will again appear before accountability court in National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) references today (Friday).

Nawaz Sharif is nominated suspect in references regarding Park Lane Apartments, Al Azizia Steel Mills and offshore companies, while Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain (r) Safdar are nominated in reference regarding Park Lane apartments alone.

The Accountability court will again hear Nawaz Sharif s petition to combine three references in the light of the judgment of Islamabad High Court (ICH).

A two judge bench of the Islamabad High Court comprising Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani on Thursday revoked the decision of accountability court against merging anti-graft references in Nawaz Sharif’s case.

Two prosecution witnesses Sidra Mansoor of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and Jahangir Ahmad of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will also appear in the accountability court.

On the other hand, Islamabad police have chalked out tight security arrangements for today’s hearing. At least 1,000 police and FC officials would be deployed for the security duties.
