PM Abbasi said that a First Information Report would be filed over bogus letter

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said on Monday that Intelligence Bureau has declared the document, circulated earlier that alleged as many as 37 members of the National Assembly of links with banned outfits, fake.

The premier addressed a session of National Assembly today and said that the bureau has asserted that a fake document was circulated using the departments name.

He said that the bureau has been advised to lodge a case in the issue. He said that the as many as 37 members of the National Assembly were accused in the issue which damages their reputation.

PM Abbasi said that a First Information Report would be filed over bogus letter.

He cleared that the purpose behind lodging the case is not to pressurize any journalist or media outlet but to identify those responsible for forgery.

As far as the media are concerned, he said that PEMRA is there to take action. The electronic media regulatory authority has taken notice in the issue, he added.

The premier further said that the issue would be forwarded to a parliament body as well.

While talking about the petroleum prices hike this month, PM Abbasi said that Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority had recommended more hike than what the government implemented.

He said that a formula determines the price of petroleum products. The premier said that hike in international markets cause the hike in the country however, Pakistan, out of all the importing countries of the world maintains the lowest price.
