After 26 hours of standstill, Pak-Afghan border at Torkham was opened on Saturday

Khyber Agency (Dunya News) – After 26 hours of standstill, Pakistan-Afghanistan border at Torkham was opened on Saturday for trade and transprort, reported Dunya News.

Torkham border was closed on Friday after twin blasts had resulted in injuring four security personnel and two Afghan nationals. The border was closed for transport and communication which resulted in the problems faced by people at both sides of the border.

Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan have not been smooth ever since Pakistan had accused Afghanist of the string of bombings in the country that resulted in more than 130 deaths in the month of Feburary, earlier this year.

Pakistan had then closed the Torkham border for transport and trade. However, it was reopened in March. In June, in a deadly suicide boming that killed 90 people in Kabul resulted in Afghan Cricket Board (ACB) ending ties with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Pakistan was due to play a one-off T20 match in Kabul later this year.
