Not looking for any financial assistance from US: COAS Bajwa
US Ambassador David Hale called on Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ on Wednesday
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said today that Pakistan is not looking for any kind of financial or material assistance from the United States of America, adding that the only requisite is acknowledgment of contributions and sacrifices.
Army chief met with US Ambassador David Hale at General Headquarters (GHQ) on Wednesday to discuss the US policy review for South Asia and Afghanistan. Hale noted that US values Pakistan’s role in war against terrorism and seeks greater cooperation with Pakistan to ensure peace in Afghanistan and resolve its issues.
In reply, COAS Bajwa said, "We are not looking for any material or financial asst from USA but trust, understanding & acknowledgement of our contributions.”
He admitted that peace in Afghanistan is in the greater interest of Pakistan, highlighting the national interest and policies of doing best to ensure it. Collaboration and synergy of effort between all stakeholders is the key to success to bring this long drawn war in Afghanistan to its logical conclusion, were the concluding remarks given by COAS Bajwa.

It must be mentioned that Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif was also briefed about US policy review on regional security by ambassador Hale. He presented the same stance that Pakistan demands greater recognition of its sacrifices made during the war on terror. Federal cabinet had condemned the remarks of US President Donald Trump accusing Pakistan of having safe havens for terrorist organisations.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson warned today that Pakistan could lose its status as a privileged military ally.
