LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif has extended his greetings to the nation on the blissful occasion of the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan that is being observed today (Monday), and addressed the country through a video message.

In his message, Shehbaz Sharif said, “Respected brothers, elders, sisters, and youngsters, Assalam-o-Alaikum.

“All of you are aware that Pakistan came into existence due to the fascinating leadership of Quaid-e-Azam, enormous sacrifices and great kindness of Allah.

“Millions of people crossed rivers of blood and came to Pakistan by leaving their homes and properties with dreams in their eyes that there will be rule of law in this country, and hard work, truthfulness and honesty will be its fundamental principles.

“Today, we should be well aware of the fact that how much we have deviated from the objectives for which this country was created.

“Pakistan, which we had to make a great country with hard work, truthfulness and honesty, which we had to make an Islamic welfare state, which had to lead Islamic world from Casablanca to Kuala Lumpur, is now economically and politically dependent despite being a nuclear power.

“We have to make Pakistan a great Islamic power, and create it on the world map as a dignified and confident country.

“For that, we have to follow the guidance of the Holy Quran, the commands of Quaid-e-Azam, and sayings of Allama Iqbal.

“With these recommendations, I conclude my talk and congratulate all of you on the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan. May Allah make Pakistan a great country. Pakistan Zindabad.”
