Record tampering: SC orders to lodge case against SECP chairman

Panamagate JIT submitted final report in SC today.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)- Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan on Monday has instructed police to lodge criminal case against Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chairman Zafar Hijazi. He was found guilty of tampering record of Sharif family s companies. 

SC issued these directives during hearing of Panama Leaks implementation case today.

Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, during hearing, stated that the apex court would also drill the name of person on whose orders SECP chairman clandestinely altered the records.

As per details available, Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) has endorsed allegations leveled by Panamagate JIT’s head Wajid Zia and found SECP chairman Zafari Hijazi guilty of tampering with record of Sharif family’s companies and has penned letter to Interior Ministry to put offender’s name on Exit Control List (ECL). FIA also recommended to file FIR against Hijazi.

FIA was tasked by SC to probe into the matter.

Meanwhile, Panamagate JIT has submitted its final report in SC regarding probe into Sharif family’s offshore assets today (Monday).

SC has ordered to make report of Panamagate JIT public and expressed exasperation over fake news by English newspaper The News.

SC adjourned hearing of Panama Leaks implementation case till July-17.
