Maryam Nawaz comes back at critics with picture of her saluting police officials
The tweet comes in the wake of much criticism resulting from SP Arsala's salute to Maryam Nawaz
(Web Desk) – On the day Maryam Nawaz Sharif made her appearance before the Joint Investigation Team probing the offshore assets of the Sharif family, a storm had been generated on social media when a police official saluted her.
As Maryam Nawaz reached the Federal Judicial Academy and stepped out of her vehicle, SP Arsala Saleem saluted her and accompanied her to the inviestigation room. The SP’s act was widely criticised on social media wherein many people questioned her actions considering the fact that Maryam Nawaz did not hold any elected office. Politicians, media personalities and ordinary citizens all expressed their disapproval over the police official’s act.

Journalist Mubashir Lucman criticized Maryam for using the PM’s official fleet.
Shameful official protocall for a non elected person. Using all vehicles of the PM s Official fleet. This is a clear slap on all tax payers

Moreover, High Court Advocate Amna Ali sent a legal notice to SP Special Branch yesterday for saluting the prime minister’s daughter. The notice questioned Arsala Saleem about the reasons for her actions which caused ‘agony and mental shock’ to the public. It also demanded an apology from the SP in front of media personnel in 15 days.
In an apparent attempt to tone down the criticism, Maryam Nawaz tweeted a picture from the day of her appearance which showed her saluting female police officials present outside the Federal Judicial Academy. She tweeted the picture with the caption, “We salute the daughters, not the ranks! If they respect you, respect them back! All salutes are not protocol. Respect comes from the heart.”
