Minister says 'opponents' repeatedly ridiculed Supreme Courts decision but no questions asked

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Railways Saad Rafique has on Wednesday criticised the ban on media talk in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s disqualification case, calling the ban ‘incomprehensible’, reported Dunya News.

Talking to media, Saad Rafique said that the ‘opponents’ repeatedly ridiculed Supreme Court’s decision but nobody asked any questions. He added that those who had been criticising the government will also have to face the criticism. “We’ll neither give Imran any concession nor shall we let him have any from anyone else”, he said.

Saad Rafique added that media trial of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and his family was a refular feature during Panama Leaks case when Imran Khan, Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed and Jamaat Islami (JI) chief Siraj ul-Haq, along with certain media anchors, kept presenting distorted court proceedings on the media.

“Despite Supreme Court’s clear orders, PTI spat venom against the court but no ban was imposed on them”, he said. He added that all were equal before law according to Article 25 and equal protection of law is mandatory for all.

The senior Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader said that the media trial did all the damage that it could but the opponents were no holy cows either. “They’d be criticised just like the criticised us”, he said.
