ATC grants physical remands of six accused in Mashal lynching case
Student who allegedly had fatally shot late Mashal at close range was held yesterday
MARDAN (Dunya News) – Anti-terrorism court has granted the police physical remand of six accused in Mashal Khan murder case on Friday while number of detained suspects stands at 47.
A student named Imran who confessed to fatally shooting late Khan on Thursday was among the eight accused presented before the ATC today. The total 47 held include three students of Abdul Wali Khan University and two of its employees.
According to the police, two of the suspects have escaped to tribal areas and are fugitives in the case. However, the court was told that a strategy was in place to nab both of them.

The ATC gave six of the eight presented in police’s custody on four-day physical remands while two, security in-charge Bilal Bakhsh and a student named Amir were ordered to be presented before a judicial magistrate to record their statements.
Bakhsh denied the charges and claimed innocence in his statement whereas Amir confessed to desecration of the body.
Mashal Khan, a journalism student at the varsity was lynched by a charged mob earlier this month for allegedly reserving dissenting views on sensitive topics.
He was fatally shot at a close range after being thrown down from the second-storey of the hostel. Imran, a varsity mate of the victim confessed to pulling the trigger and was presented before the media after a press conference addressed by Deputy Inspector General of Police in Mardan, Alam Khan Shinwari.
