Suicide bomber kills self, four others in Karachi

KARACHI (Dunya News) - The details of anti-terror operation in Karachi’s Urdu Bazar, in which three men, a woman and a minor girl were killed, are gradually unfolding.

The operation was carried out on arrested terrorist Mansoor’s tip off that some elements of banned outfit were planning to carry out a major terrorist attack in the metropolis. Sources said that upon arrival of Rangers personnel, suspected terrorists opened indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons, which lasted for several hours.



Upon no chance of escape, terrorists locked themselves in the room of flat.

Three men, woman and a three-month-old girl were killed when one of them detonated his suicide jacket. Two terrorists have been identified as Hameed and Naeem, whereas, the woman was Hameed’s wife and minor girl was his daughter.

According to sources, Naeem and Hameed were active members of banned Jundullah Group. They were earlier residing in Orangi Town area before moving to Urdu Bazar. 

Huge cache of weapons and ammunition were also confiscated from the flat.

The crackdown was launched three days after the Sindh cabinet extended the special policing powers granted to the Rangers under Section 4(2) of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) 1997 within Karachi division for 90 days.
