Abdul Wali Khan University was shut for an indefinite period of time

MARDAN (Dunya News) – Police have held 25 to 30 students on Thursday after a fellow was lynched by a charged group in Abdul Wali Khan University.

Mashal Khan was followed by the group to his hostel after an argument where he was tortured and shot dead. 

Reportedly, slain Khan was registered with the department of journalism and mass communication and hailed from Swabi. He was pursuing sixth semester studies at the institute.

Abdul Wali Khan University was shut for an indefinite period of time after the incident was reported early evening.

The charged group vandalised property of the institute and left five other students injured amidst the tensions.

AFP reported that the student was thrown on the ground from the second floor before being shot at a close range. The agency further reported that teachers intervened the heated argument and locked the student in a room to save his life. 

However, the charged mob broke down the door and killed him.
