The Finance Minister told that no one could pressurise PM Nawaz in this matter

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Ishaq Dar made it clear on Thursday that the government was not considering snap elections, adding that it was on the discretion of PM Nawaz whether to hold elections early.

“The Prime Minister cannot be pressurised to hold snap elections,” he said, “We’ll see when Panama case verdict is announced. Every decision will be remembered for centuries.”

Finance Minister Dar chaired the Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms earlier today where he held a media talk at Parliament House afterwards.

He affirmed that there were no considerations on premature elections as of yet saying, “It is on the discretion of PM Nawaz whether to hold elections early.”

Ishaq Dar went on to say that Nawaz Sharif could not be pressurised in this regard, adding that the Panama case verdict would be remembered for centuries.

“The package of electoral reforms will be prepared before budget 2017-18,” he added.

While responding to a question, he told that the electoral reforms were delayed owing to the legislation regarding extension of military courts, promising that the Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms would hold daily meetings from now.
