Sindh govt announced April 4 as public holiday for PPP founder's death anniversary
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The government of Sindh announced April 4 as public holiday throughout the province. The day marks 38th death anniversary of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
The notification of public holiday on April 4 of 2017 in Sindh was released by provincial Chief Secretary Rizwan Memon. It stated, “The Government of Sindh has been pleased to declare 4th April 2017 (Tuesday) as Public Holiday throughout the Province of Sindh, on the occasion of 38th death anniversary of Shaheed Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto.”
According the notification, all offices including autonomous, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils under the administrative control of Government of Sindh except essential services will remain closed during Tuesday.
Bhutto was executed on April 4, 1979. The leaders of PPP had recently urged the Supreme Court of Pakistan to hear the reference stating Bhutto’s execution as ‘judicial murder’ during the reign of President Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq.
