SC orders to allow Qingqi rickshaws built by registered manufacturers

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday directed the concerned authorities to only allow motorcyle-rickshaws, also known as Qingqi rickshaws, built by the registered manufacturers.

The decision was announced by a two-member bench headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmed on appeals pertaining to ban on Qingqi rickshaws.

During the case hearing, Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that the government only took action against qingchi rickshaws when large number of people started benefiting from the service.

Qingqi rickshaws are everywhere in the country, thus, the government must take care of relevant individuals’ employment along with finding solution to the problem.

The state lawyer informed court that illegal Qingqi rickshaws have been banned in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Only approved Qingqi rickshaws will be allowed on roads.
