First phase of housing census has reportedly ended today

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief Census Commissioner, Asif Bajwa has maintained on Friday that the department is taking care of all the complaints from across the country after the first census in 19 years was launched on March 15.

First phase of house listing has reportedly ended today while population census will be kick-starting on Saturday.

While briefing the media, Bajwa said that separate mentions of transgender persons and disabled citizens have been added in the forms while no one is permitted to write the sought details with lead pencils.

The Government of Pakistan launched 6th census on March 15, after a lull of 19 years with assistance of the military.

Major General Asif Ghafoor Bajwa and Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Maryam Aurangzeb addressed a joint press conference announcing the now-in-process development.

The Director General of Pakistan Army’s media cell, Maj Gen Bajwa said that 0.2 million troops were reserved for security of enumerators.

This is going to be the first ever census in Pakistan to count transgender persons.
