Pakpattan Sajjada Nasheen's marriage illegal: Mufti Muneeb
Moon-sighting committee chief says Quran's instructions on the matter are quite clear
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Moon-sighting committee chief Mufti Muneeb ur-Rehman has on Monday said that the marriage of Pakpattan Sajjada Nasheen Dewan Masood Mawdood Chishti is illegal since the instructions of Quran are quite clear on the matter, reported Dunya News.
Talking to senior journalist Mujib ur-Rehman Shami on Dunya News program Nuqta-e-Nazar, Mufti Muneeb said that he had no knowledge of the matter personally but as stated that the Sajjada Nasheen had married his wife’s niece, it was completely un-Islamic.
Mujib ur-Rehman Shami told in the program that the said Sajjad Nasheen’s wife had complained that he husband had married her niece. The Auqaf department had investigated the matter and had found it to be true after which he had been removed as the Sajjada Nasheen of the revered shrine.
“However, some of the clerics and Sajjada Nasheens had contacted Zaeem Qadri and even approached Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss the issue with Qadri, who upon pressure gave way”, said Shami.
Mufti Muneeb said that Quran’s instructions are quite clear in the matter according to Surah Nisa. He added that the culprit in such a matter must immediately ask for forgiveness and publicly admit to his sin as soon as possible. “It is not even a Nikaah. The said person can’t divorce the woman because it is not Nikaah at all. Entire issue was Haram”, he said.
