Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine blast: Initial probe suggests female suicide bomber's involvement

Investigation teams from Karachi have arrived at shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

SEHWAN (Daily Dunya) - No breakthrough has been achieved yet in investigation of deadly blast that struck shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan Sharif despite span of at least 15 hours.

Investigation teams from Karachi have arrived in Sehwan at shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar to probe deadly suicide blast which left 76 devotees martyred whereas 250 others were injured.

Investigations team are probing the blast from every possible angle.

Meanwhile, gender of suicide bomber has not been confirmed yet. According to details, security persons deployed at gate encountered with a burqa-clad person before explosion.

However, initial investigation suggests involvement of female suicide bomber. Investigation has also revealed that bullets were also used along with explosive material. Large numbers of deaths were caused by glass shrapnel.

An initial report compiled by bomb disposal squad has been sent to high-level officials. Forensic teams have collected DNA samples of bodies not identifiable.

On the other hand, Inspector General (IG) of Sindh has admitted flaws in the security arrangements.
