Probe of Cyril Almeida's issue concluded: sources
It was reported that statements of different key persons have been recorded
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Probe committee has concluded its task regarding Cyril Almeida’s news story that claimed of a confrontation between military and civil leadership and was seen by the government as breach of nation security.
Sources have reported that the committee has completed its task and a report is likely to be presented to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in coming week.
It was also reported that statements of different key persons in the issue including Cyril Almeida were recorded in Lahore in the latest meeting of the committee.
A report that was published on October 6 in an English newspaper claimed to be reporting the inside story of a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) that was attended by the premier and then Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif.
According to the report, the civil and military leadership confronted each other on an issue but the government saw the report as a breach of national security.
The government had denied the story at least three times before the Interior Minister branded it against the national security.
