LAHORE (Dunya News) – Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has sentenced five criminals to death on Wednesday in Kot Radha Kishan incident in which a Christian couple was set on fire by a group of Muslims for alleged blasphemy that never was proved.

A detailed verdict was laid bare by a court in Lahore today after a challan was filed by police in 2014 over killing of Sajjad and Saima on November 4 that year.

A Christian couple was forced in a brick kiln in suburbs of Kasur by a group of angry locals after alleging them of desecration of the Holy Quran.

Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) sentenced eight others named in the case to two years of imprisonment each while 92 persons were acquitted over benefit of the doubt.

There are numerous incidents in Pakistan where people of minority faiths have been alleged of blasphemy and are fighting legal battles.

One of many such incidents is the case involving Asiya Bibi, a Christian woman whose case is under hearing in Supreme Court (SC). Salman Taseerm late governor of Punjab was shot dead by his radical security guard who saw his call to reform blasphemy laws as an abomination.
