Death row inmate exonerated after 19 years
Hussain was accused of murdering a local named Ismail in 1997
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court nullified a ruling made previously in a murder case that exonerated a death row inmate on Thursday after spending 19 years behind bars.
Justice Asif Saeed Khosa rhetorically remarked after the verdict was given that who was to be held responsible for the 19 years that Mazhar Hussain lost of his life for being incarcerated.
He said that all those in multiple cases across the country who falsely testified before courts in such cases should be brought to justice and judges should be giving verdicts after reviewing the facts.
Hussain was accused of murdering a local named Ismail in 1997 in precincts of Sihala Police Station.
