The seat had fallen vacant after MPA Muhammad Sadiq passed away

TAXILA (Dunya News) – Umar Farooq affiliated with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has won the PP-7 by-election on Monday with 46,800 votes against 39,655 of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Ammar Sadiq, according to unofficial results.

The seat fell vacant after the death of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s MPA Muhammad Sadiq, father of the candidate who lost today to PML-N.

There were 193,000 registered voters in the constituency for whom 167 polling stations were set up.

Pakistan Army, Rangers and police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order situation and foil any untoward incident.

While conversing with Kamran Khan in his programme, Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath, the victorious PML-N candidate credited Prime Minister Nawaz Sharifs effective policies for his win and people s mandate. Free and fair polling was conducted in supervision of the army, he said.

Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab congratulated the winner and said that the people of Taxila acknowledged the efforts made with honesty and sincerity.

Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif stated in a message that he posted on a social media plat form that Imran Khan, Chairman of PTI has lost another "wicket" to PML-N.

He declared Khan a liability for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and further added to his criticism on him stating that both bowling and batting of PTI chief failed in Taxila.

In response to PML-N s clinching of a seat that was previously owned by PTI, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Vice-Chairman of the opposition party said that only PTI was giving a tough time to the ruling party.

It should be noted here that Taxila is considered a stronghold of PTI leader, Ghulam Sarwar Khan.
