Dar orders action against individuals, companies named in Bahamas leaks
No discrimination against anyone should be made, the Finance Minister ordered.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Federal Minister for Finance Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar in a meeting with SA PM on Revenue and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) team has given directions to investigate and take action as per the due process of law against the individuals and companies named by a section of media in the Bahamas Leaks.
The same instructions have been issued for SECP and State Bank of Pakistan by the Finance Minister.
The Minister said that no discrimination against anyone should be made and the probe be started immediately keeping in view all the legal formalities.
The leaked documents have revealed incorporation details of 69 offshore companies owned by Pakistani citizens, including businessmen and politicians.

Among those named in the Bahamas leaks include Jamaat-e-Islami former senator Professor Khurshid Ahmed, Gibran Khan, the son of Mohammad Naseer Khan, a former minister in dictator Musharraf s government, Mohsin Abu Bakar Sheikhani, a construction business owner from Karachi, Obaid Altaf Khanani, son of Altaf Khanani and Chief Minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif s wife, Tehmina Durrani’s mother Samina Durrani.
The cache of documents from the island nation’s corporate registry provides names of directors and some owners of more than 175,000 Bahamian companies, trusts and foundations registered between 1990 and early 2016.
The documents were received by the German newspaper ‘Süddeutsche Zeitung’ and shared with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).
