Karachi police arrest MQM leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan
Khawaja Izhar was arrested for his involvement in target killings, said SSP Rao Anwar
KARACHI (Web Desk) - Police arrested Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan’s after a raid on his house in Karachi on Friday.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and ordered the suspension of the station house officer (SHO) at Sohrab Goth police station.
He also directed Inspector General Police Sindh A.D. Khawaja to submit a report regarding the raid.
SSP Malir Rao Anwar told media that raid was conducted in the street on a tip-off regarding presence of target killers Raees Mama and Kamran Farooqui.
Both accused are wanted in May 12 incident case, the SSP told.
He said several houses including the MQM leader’s residence were searched during the action.
Speaking to media, Deputy Commissioner Central Fariduddin said the Chief Minister is personally monitoring the incident. He said the evidence is being gathered through CCTV footage.
Sindh Assembly Speaker expressed concern over the incident and claimed that police are bound to inform him before conducting a raid at any MPA‘s house.
