KARACHI (Web Desk) – While refuting rumours regarding philanthropist and Edhi Foundation Chairman Abdul Sattar Edhi’s health condition, his son Faisal Edhi has said that his father is feeling better now.

Faisal said that Abdul Sattar Edhi was taken to hospital for routine dialysis.

Last week, Edhi declined an offer by former president Asif Ali Zardari for treatment abroad in favour of treatment in Pakistan.

PPP Senator Rehman Malik visited Edhi in hospital with Zardari’s proposal of treatment abroad.

Edhi, however, declined the offer with a simple gesture, indicating he preferred to receive treatment in Pakistan.

The philanthropist was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2013 but has been unable to get a transplant due to weak health.

Earlier on Friday, in a befitting tribute to the work of Abdul Sattar Edhi, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced its support for the Edhi Foundation. The announcement was made by Chairman PCB, Shaharyar Khan, at a press conference.

Also present at the press conference were Najam Sethi, Chairman PSL, Subhan Ahmad, COO PCB, Saad Edhi, Trustee Edhi Foundation and grandson of Abdul Sattar Edhi, Misbah ul Haq, Captain Pakistan Test Team, Azhar Ali, Captain Pakistan ODI Team, and Sarfaraz Ahmed, Captain Pakistan T20I Team.

As part of the arrangement, the Pakistan Cricket Team will be seen sporting Edhi Foundation’s logo on the playing shirts for the ODI and T20I leg of its upcoming tour of England and Ireland. This partnership honours the services of the great humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi, inarguably one of the world’s most selfless philanthropists.

Sharing his thoughts on this partnership, Chairman PCB Shaharyar M. Khan said: “We feel honoured to associate ourselves with the work of such a great human being. PCB is cognisant of its responsibility to give back to the society and this is a continuation of our policy to support and promote such initiatives."

Chairman PCB presented a cheque of Rs 0.5 million to Edhi Foundation. On behalf of PSL, Najam Sethi handed out a cheque of Rs 0.5 million for Edhi Foundation.

As a mark of respect for Abdul Sattar Edhi, Misbah ul Haq, Azhar Ali, and Sarfaraz Ahmed presented the official Pakistan ODI and T20I jersey to Saad Edhi on behalf of the Pakistan Cricket Team. The team also donated a signed bat to be given away in an auction for the benefit of Edhi Foundation.
