KARACHI (Web Desk) - At least six worshippers were killed and 15 others injured when the roof of an under-construction mosque partially collapsed in North Nazimabad area of Karachi on Friday, Dunya News reported.

Rescue teams, Rangers personnel and locals rushed to the scene to rescue those trapped under the rubble.

A large number of worshippers had gathered at Jamia Masjid Usman for Friday prayers near Landi Kotal Chowrangi in North Nazimabad.

The injured persons were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah took notice of the incident and summoned report from Karachi Commissioner.

Pakistan has a poor safety record in the construction and maintenance of buildings.

In September 2014, 24 worshippers were killed when roof of a mosque collapsed in Daroghawala, a low-income neighbourhood of Lahore, with narrow and congested streets.
