MQM presents shadow budget, demand reforms in taxation
Dr Farooq Sattar opposes unnecessary increase in taxes
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Farooq Sattar presented a shadow budget as he opposed unnecessary increase in taxes, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.
Dr Farooq Sattar demanded an increase in defence budget along with that of other law enforcement agencies. He also asked for steps to be taken to eradicate corruption.
He also asked for amendments in foreign exchange law and demanded strict measures to be taken for stopping human trafficking. He gave the idea to stop people from sending money abroad even if it is for off-shore companies.
Farooq Sattar also added that under and over-invoicing on exports should be ended and misuse of Afghan trade transit should be stopped. He wanted a labourer’s salary to be Rs 20,000 minimum and asked for Rs 1.5 billion budget for Karachi circular station in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
