All three terrorists arrested from Karachi belong to a banned outfit

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Three terrorists including an Al-Qaeda commander belonging to the sub-continent wing were killed in a police encounter that took place in Karachi s Gulshan-i-Buner area, reported Dunya News on Sunday.

According to Special Superintendent Police (SSP) Rao Anwar, the area was cordoned off with its entrance and exit points sealed after information regarding presence of terrorists was received. He added that the terrorists were killed as a result of cross-firing with the police.

SSP Anwar said that automatic weapons along with Kalashnikovs and other explosives were recovered as a result of the operation in the area whereas identification of all three of the terrorists, who belonged to a banned outfit, has also been done.

One of the terrorists has been identified by the name of Riaz who also served as a commander of Al-Qaeda in the sub-continent. A search operation has been launched in the area to locate facilitators of the terrorists if any.

Another important terrorist by the name of Sumro was detained in Sukkur. A hand-grenade and arms were recovered from the apprehended terrorist.

Meanwhile, a major terrorist activity that was to be carried out in Sukkur during Eid-ul-Fitr has been foiled after member of a banned outfit was apprehended from the city. The terrorist, named Abdul Jabbar, has been involved in facilitating suicide attacks in Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Punjab Regiment Center in Mardan as well.

The apprehended terrorist has also confessed that he has sent a number of children studying in Madrassas to Waziristan after brainwashing them. A hand-grenade and other ammunition have been recovered from him.
