Tax of Rs. 2.5 billion evaded annually
TRC Chairman Naqvi says Rs 1.5 billion tax is evaded annually through custom duty and sales tax
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The meeting of Senate’s Finance Committee was held under the supervision of Saleem Mandviwalla, the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on finance and revenue on Thursday. The chairman stated that steps had to be taken to stop the tax evasion as Tax of Rs 2.5 billion was evaded every year. He also told that Tax Reform Commission (TRC) had given proposals last year to find out the offshore companies.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) also briefed about the investigations of Rs 18.5 billion corruption in National Bank of Bangladesh, though the names were not revealed.
Senior economist Dr Qaisar Bengali also gave proposals for budget and told that sales tax should be decreased by 1% every year so that Pakistani industries could compete on international level.
