Impoverished people still waiting for owner-occupancy under 'Ashiana scheme'
The government officials said that they are striving for early completion of the project.
LAHORE (Dunya News) –The ambitious Punjab government project ‘Ashiana’ for providing low cost houses to the impoverished people is still not completed after a span of six years, reported on Thursday.
The already-built houses are getting affected due to government’s lack of interest while dozens of applicants are still waiting for ownership of the houses despite submitting millions of rupees.
According to the scheme that was started in 2010, plots of five marlas and as many as 98 houses of three marlas would be given to the needy people on low cost.
The locals living in these houses are still deprived of basic facilities likes mosques and dispensaries.
On the other hand, the government officials said that they are striving for early completion of the project. They gave reason of focusing on the energy projects for halt in the completion of Ashiana project.
