Shah was arrested in Karachi's Defense area on Mushtaq Raisani's identification

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Accountability court (AC) on Tuesday has remanded Sohail Majeed, aide of Balochistan Finance Secretary Mushtaq Raisani in National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) custody on three-day transit remand.

The court ordered authorities concerned to present the culprit before Quetta’s court.

Majeed was arrested in Karachi’s Defense area on Mushtaq Raisani’s identification.

While recording his statement, Majeed revealed that Rs 260 million out of Rs 730 million seized from Raisani’s residence was his share.

At least Rs 730 million were seized in cash from suspended finance secretary’s house last week. Gold worth Rs 40 million was hauled away as well.

Sohail Majeed is a government contractor who has revealed that Raisani acquired the funds from the government for a development project in Kalat. The amount was divided in four shares while the project was worth Rs 1.5 billion, he said.

The corrupt contractor revealed that key politicians were involved in the mega scandal.

Spokesperson for the bureau stated that Shah would be handed over to NAB Balochistan soon.

Raisani is currently in NAB’s custody on 14-day physical remand. Balochistan government had suspended the representative overnight after his arrest while Advisor to Chief Minister (CM) on Finance Khalid Langau stepped down.

NAB personnel had hauled away records from provincial treasury office for assistance in probe. Raisani was arrested from his office in Civil Secretariat.
