Murder file goes missing: SHC issues notices for govt, police
Naeem had absconded after the sentencing prompting the trial court to declare him fugitive
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh High Court (SHC) has resented Interior Secretary and police Inspector General (IG) over misplacement of a file in a murder case and issued notices, Dunya News reported Monday.
Police presented a convicted murderer in the court however, a file in the case was found missing.
The high court took notice of the issue and released notices for Interior Secretary and Sindh Police Inspector General.
A military trial court had sentenced Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) sector in-charge, Rafi alias Babli to death punishment in 1999. Other criminals in the case, Abdul Malik and Naeem were sentenced to life in prison.
Naeem had absconded after the sentencing prompting the trial court to declare him fugitive.
The Supreme Court (SC) had dissolved military court after the verdict and record of the cases were forwarded to the Home Department.
