Bizarrely, the authorities concerned conducted interviews after hiring

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Anti-corruption department has launched another probe amidst ongoing funds embezzlement investigations pertaining to purchase of medicines in Lady Reading Hospital, Dunya News reported Wednesday.

The new probe was launched after irregularities in security guards’ appointments were reported.

Sources said that around 40 persons were recruited last year as security guards without interviews. The authorities concerned, bizarrely, conducted interviews after hiring.

A grade-14 official is reported to be a member of the selection committee that hired security guards.

Investigation team of the anti-corruption department stated that hospital administration is not cooperating in the probe.

Earlier in march corruption worth more than Rs 10 crore was revealed in Lady Reading Hospital’s drug funds that involved two BS-21 government officials among others.

Law enforcers had apprehended store keeper and contractor of the hospital while first information report (FIR) was registered.

Another six persons were nabbed while four of acquired interim bails. Reportedly, two of the six persons arrested had gone into hiding.

Months-long investigations done on anti-corruption department’s part revealed involvement of two grade-21 officials in the scam.

The department had stated that at least ten inquiries were underway and more arrests were likely in the near future.
