Punjab govt decides to shift 5,000 schools on solar energy

Punjab government is ardently working on different projects to overcome crisis, assures CM.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday has announced to shift as many as 5000 schools on solar energy.

Chairing a meeting in Lahore, CM Shahbaz stated that it’s the need of era to use solar energy for the elimination of power crisis.

He said that Punjab government is ardently working on different projects to promote solar energy as the country is facing disastrous power related issues.

He said that a special project with the cost of Rs 32billion for Drip Irrigation is going to be launched in Punjab, adding that Punjab government is planning to generate electricity by biomass.

Shedding light on Ashyana Housing Scheme, Punjab CM said that all kind of possible resources are being provided for the uplift of the poor.

The participants of the meeting also discussed installation of solar energy tube wells and pure water plants while German Consultant also briefed the House on the usage of solar energy.

Earlier, Norway had also come forward to help Pakistan end its energy crisis as the prime ministers of the two countries signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of cooperation in the field of solar energy.

Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif said that the crisis will be over within next 2 to 3 years.
