Cotton harvest reduced this year, affected due to climatic change

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan to import 50 million tons of cotton this year as local cotton harvest has been destroyed due to unexpected climate change, reported Dunya News.

Cotton harvest has been affected this year due to climate change. Total production of 97 billion bales has been recorded so far, out which textile mills have already bought 85 billion bales of cotton.

Given the demand of 1.5 million bales annually in the textile sector, government needs to import another 50 million bales. By far, cotton worth 43 million rupees has already been imported.
