Major power breakdown hits Karachi
Disruption at the 500kV EHT line has caused the Karachi blackout.
KARACHI (Web Desk) - A major power breakdown hit parts of Karachi early Friday morning due to disruption at Hub-Jamshoro 500kV transmission line.
As per details, the high-tension Hub-Jamshoro 500kv backup power line tripped around 5.30am. All production units including Bin Qasim Power plant were shut due to the disruption.
K-Electic authorities reported that teams are working non-stop to normalise the situation as soon as possible.

The affected areas include New Karachi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Sadar, Bahadurabad, Federl B Area, I. I. Chundrigar Road, Landhi, Korangi, Buffer Zone, Nazimabad, North Karachi, Liquatabad, Defence and Shadman.
According to K-Electric officials, electricity has been restored in some parts of the city especially at the Abbasi Shaheed, Civil and Jinnah Hospitals and Dhabeji and other pumping stations while work is underway to restore the electricity of the rest of the city.
