DHA land scam: NAB to issue Kamran Kiyani's red warrant if he doesn't cooperate

LAHORE (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to issue red warrant of Kamran Kiyani, brother of former chief of army staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani if he does not record his statement in Defense Housing Authority (DHA) corruption case, Dunya News reported Wednesday.

NAB is pursuing a reference against Kiyani, Hammad Arshad, owner of Globaco (Pvt) Ltd and Muhammad Hussain among others worth at least Rs 16 billion in land allotments for development projects in Defense area.

Dunya News has obtained record’s copy that the accountability bureau has seized in the matter.

The documents state that Arshad changed his statement repeatedly during interrogation. The accused has confessed to have handed as many as 120 files of the martyrs to Kiyani. It has been revealed that Kiyani acquired loan worth Rs 55 crore from the Bank of Punjab in matter of society built for the martyrs’ families.

The bureau, reportedly has vowed to issue red warrants of Kiyani if he does not cooperate.

NAB has extended the scale of investigations and seized as many as 17 accounts of Globaco. The bureau is also reviewing matters involving former COAS’s brother in the past to simplify the present case. The cases include National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) and Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) among others.

Deputy prosecutor in the case, General Accountability Khaleeuquz Zaman has said that authorities are digging further for useful record.

It is worth knowing that Kiyani is currently residing in Dubai and the authorities have decided to approach Interpol to bring him back. Hammad Arshad has become an approver in the case and is willing to help. Following the development, Kamran Kiyani was named and NAB is making efforts in bid to get his statement recorded.

Both Kiyani and Arshad were given contracts to erect a housing scheme in Defense area. However, the alleged culprits pocketed billions of Rupees and deprived the project of funds but some.
