US Ambassador calls on General Raheel Sharif at GHQ

David Hale held a meeting with the Army Chief at General Headquarters (GHQ).

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) - The newly-appointed US Ambassador to Pakistan, David Hale visited General Headquarters in Rawalpindi today (Friday) and held a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest including regional security situation were discussed.

The meeting comes few day after General Raheel Sharif spent five days in the United States from November 15 to 20 and held meetings with American political and military leadership to discuss key issues including regional security.

David Hale arrived in Islamabad last month to take up his new assignment as the US Ambassador to Pakistan. He is the successor to Richard Olson, who has been US ambassador in Islamabad since September 2012.

Hale, born 1961, has currently been the US ambassador to Lebanon since August 1, 2013. He is also a career member of the Senior Foreign Service holding the rank of Career Minister.
