Dense fog blankets several cities of Punjab

Dense fog has blanketed the plain areas of Punjab on night between Tuesday and Wednesday.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Fog has blanketed several cities of Punjab, including Lahore, Pattoki, Okara, Sheikhupura and Khanewal on night between Tuesday and Wednesday and affected flow of traffic at the Motorway and other highways. The Motorway has been closed from Lahore as visibility was down to zero due to dense fog

The Motorway police have appealed the drivers to switch on fog lights and drive at very slow speed. They have also requested people not to use mobile phones while driving.

The Motorway police have also requested people to stay home and avoid unnecessary travelling as visibility was down to zero due to dense fog. They further said that in case of any emergency please call at 130.

Earlier on Tuesday, three persons were killed while twenty others sustained injuries in separate road mishaps as fog gripped parts of Punjab.

Road mishap left one dead and four wounded in Sheikhupura as seven cars rammed into each other due to intense fog while separately in Renala Khurd, collision between two rickshaws injured four students. The victims were shifted to the hospital for medical assistance.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, cold and dry weather is likely to prevail in most parts of the country during next 24 hours, however, cloudy condition is also expected in some cities to welcome the winter season.
