Court reserves verdict on SGS and Cotecna references against Zardari

NAB does not have the original documents of the references: Farooq H Naik

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountability Court of Islamabad, on Wednesday has reserved the verdict on Zardari’s acquittal pleas in SGS and Cotecna references, reported Dunya News.

According to the details, Farooq H Naik, the lawyer of former president of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari stated in his argument that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) does not have the original documents of the references, he said that even the investigation officer has accepted that they do not have the original documents and no one knows where they are.

On the other hand, NAB prosecutor said that the original documents are supposed to be in custody of court, not in possession of NAB. Farooq H Naik said that he is expecting justice for his client from the court.

The accountability court on Wednesday has postponed issuance of order for the fourth time in former president Asif Ali Zardari’s bail plea in SGS and Cotecna references.

The verdict was reserved at least three months ago and postponed today for the fourth time.

Judge Muhammad Bashir held hearing of the references against Zardari. The court reserved the verdict due to absence of stenographer.

The court has given a new date for verdict, July 24.
