The Indian government wants to revive tourism in Kashmir, says Indian PM
SRINAGAR (Dunya News) – Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi on Saturday has admitted that Kashmiris have suffered a lot over the years and dreams have been crushed generation after generation.
He admitted sufferings of Kashmir locals in his speech in Srinagar today.
Modi has announced Rs 80,000 crore package for development of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indian PM, held responsible by various sectors for Gujrat massacre said that he wants to drive Kashmir back to its glory and was hopeful that the day is not far. He said that Kashmir is the birthplace of Sufism which teaches people to come together.

While addressing a public meeting in Sher-e-Kashmir cricket stadium, Modi said that without humanity there is nothing to look forward to and do work for. On the contrary, the Indian PM seemed unaware of murders in cold blood in Kashmir.
He said that it is crucial that every family in Kashmir is driven out of crisis.
Modi said that India does not wish to put Kashmir on recovery-track but go ahead of it. Strangely, Modi thought that resolution of Kashmiris’ problems lies in providing employment opportunities to the youth.
Amidst India-led suppression in Kashmir, the PM wished to improve health facilities for locals.

On the other hand, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Yasin Malik’s wife Mishal, while talking to Dunya News in an exclusive comment on Modi’s youth package said that Delhi is habitual of such announcements but the ground realities show that the funds are spent on army and machineries of oppression.

She also said that Modi’s public meeting was ‘made’ a success by bringing people in from other areas. She denounced alleged efforts of India to revive Kashmir. Modi’s packages and allocation of funds by Indian government are mere ‘lip-service,’ she added.
Malik said that all Hurriyat leaders are either in jail or put under house arrest because of Modi’s visit. Kashmir has been made a ‘fort’ where locals are checked as a kilometer (Km) passes, she added.
Malik posed a question, “Why does Indian government avoid referendum?”

She further said that no family member is allowed to meet Yasin. It should be mentioned here that the APHC leaders and hundreds of Kashmiris were detained before Modi’s arrival.
Kashmir is divided between India and Pakistan, but claimed in its entirety by both. Since 1989, freedom fighters have been fighting for Kashmir s independence or its merger with Pakistan. More than 68,000 people have been killed due to Indian crackdown.
Though incidents of violence have largely been suppressed by Indian forces, public opposition to Indian rule remains widespread in the mostly Muslim territory and is now mainly expressed through street protests.
