ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamic Ideology Council (IIC) on Tuesday ruled that as per Islamic Shariah, women are recommended but not required to cover face, hands and feet, Dunya News reported.

According to details, the two-day session of the Islamic Ideology Council took place in Islamabad where clerics deliberated ruling on various issues concerning the Islamic jurisprudence.
It was ruled in the meeting that women are recommended to cover their faces, hands and feet but are not required to do so. The clerics said veil only becomes a requirement when ‘promiscuity’ is feared.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani said Islamic Shariah does not bound women to cover their faces, hands and feet.
The council has also recommended the government to end co-education system after primary school from the country ‘as soon as possible’.
It said that changes should be made in the curriculum as per natural needs and also recommended to form two women-only universities.
