Imran Khan, PM Nawaz contact Riazul Haq, congratulate on victory
It is likely that Juj will announce to join Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) soon
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharf on Wednesday contacted the member-elect of the National Assembly, Riazul Haq Juj and congratulated him on the victory in Okara’s NA-144 by-election, Dunya News reported.
It is likely that Juj will announce to join Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) soon.
According to details, PM Nawaz contacted Riazul Haq and congratulated over victory. Haq thanked PM Nawaz for the call and said that PML-N is in his blood and his preference has always been this party.
Prior to that, Imran Khan also contacted him and congratulated over the victory.
Juj had sought PML-N’s ticket for the NA-144 by-election but was denied and therefore he decided to contest the election independently. He was victorious overwhelmingly defeating both PTI and PML-N candidates.
Following his victory, it was being speculated that Judge will rejoin PML-N and from his conversation with the Prime Minister today and media speculations, it is highly likely.
Riazul Haq grabs victory
The winning participant Riaz ul Haq Juj secured 83,240 votes whereas Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) candidate Ali Arif Chaudhary stood second with 41,050 votes. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Ashraf Sohna has bagged 7049 votes and came last while Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Chaudhry Sajjad-ul-Haq also faced defeat. Another independent runner earned 11563 votes.
The seat went vacant as PML-N’s Arif Chaudhry was disqualified by an election tribunal in fake degree scam after which re-election was announced in the constituency. Ashraf Sohna who earlier said bye to PPP and joined PTI to test his fate was also thrashed in NA-144 by-election.
There were nearly 316,000 registered voters in Okara.
As many as 25 polling stations were declared sensitive out of the 210 total in the constituency. Security arrangements were ensured by officials of district government as Pakistan Army, Rangers and police personnel were deployed at each polling station while CCTV cameras were also installed.

MNA elect from NA-122 Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has on Tuesday invited Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan to leave his ego behind and cooperate with the government for the progress of the country. Ayaz said that he defeated PTI, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q). “I had told everyone three weeks back that Imran wouldn’t accept the result”, said the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader, reported Dunya News.
Talking to media in Lahore, Ayaz Sadiq said that his victory proved the allegation of 53,000 fake votes as wrong. He said that it was for the first time in Pakistan’s history that a Speaker won 2 elections within 2 and half years. He said that he defeated the alliance of PTI, PAT, PML-Q and Jamaat Islami (JI).
Advising Imran Khan to leave his ego behind, Ayaz Sadiq asked him not to hurl derogatory remarks at political leaders.
“PP-147 result is good but NA-122 is wrong. Why this hypocrisy?” questioned Ayaz Sadiq. He said that the ‘politics of rigging and sit-ins’ will not help investment to come into Pakistan.
