Another polio case surfaces in Quetta
Seven polio cases have been registered in Balochistan this year.
QUETTA (Web Desk) – Health authorities have detected a fresh polio case in Kalli Barakzai area of Quetta on Tuesday.
According to the provincial health department, three-month-old boy Naqibullah, son of Abdul Sattar, has been diagnosed with polio.
According to parents, Naqibullah was administered polio drops seven times.
So far, seven polio cases have been registered in Balochistan this year. Five cases were confirmed in Quetta, one in Loralai and one in Qilla Abdullah.
Pakistan, along with Afghanistan and Nigeria, are the only three countries in the world where polio remains endemic. The highly contagious virus is transmitted in unsanitary conditions but is easily fended off with a vaccine.
