Belarus visit to strengthen mutual ties: PM Nawaz Sharif
PM met Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk; he said motive behind visit is to strengthen friendship
MINSK: (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has on Monday said that the motive behind his Belarus visit is to strengthen the mutual ties between Pakistan and Belarus. He also met Belarus’ president Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk, reported Dunya News.
PM Nawaz arrived in Belarus’ capital where he was given a very warm welcome and guard of honor. President, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Belarus welcomed Pakistani Prime Minister.
Afterwards, PM Nawaz met Belarus’ president and discussed mutual ties with him. He also invited the Belarus’ president to Pakistan.
Addressing the joint press conference after the meeting, PM Nawaz said that mutual ties between Belarus and Pakistan are in the interest of both the countries. He said that both the countries share a common perspective on terrorism. “We want to take the mutual ties to new heights. Belarus’ president’s Pakistan visit was a foundation for strong long-term relations”, said the PM. He added that the progressive vision of Belarus’ president impressed him a lot. Both the countries signed 20 agreements.
PM Nawaz is also scheduled to meet Chairman of Belarus House of Representatives and Chairman Democratic Council. The state university of Belarus will also award an honorary doctorate degree to PM Nawaz Sharif while the PM will also inaugurate the joint business forum.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid, Federal Food Minister Sikandar Hayat Bosan, Federal Minister for Defense Production Rana Tanveer and Special Assistant to PM on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatimi also accompany PM on the visit.
