Valuables and stored food in houses have been washed away by floods

SKARDU (Dunya News) – Land-sliding and thunderstorm have claimed a life in Kharmang district of Gilgit-Baltistan leaving as many as ten houses demolished.

More than 3,000 families are stranded after at least 25kilometres (Kms) long roads and 20 connective bridges collapsed. 75 houses have been flooded while ten out of the total are demolished.

Valuables and stored food in houses have been washed away by floods. At least 12 shops, 80 irrigation channels, 2,500ft long potable water pipelines, a school, a seminary and a mosque have been swept away by floods.

Relief and rescue activities of the district administration and the Pakistan Army are continuing in the flood-hit areas.
