The plea holds the provincial government responsible for destruction by floods

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Negligence in implementation of Federal Flood Commission’s judicial inquiry on Friday has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

The matter has been challenged by Human Safety Commission Chairman Pir Ali Gillani Advocate. The petition states that Pakistan is being worst hit by floods since 2010. Commission headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah gave recommendations to counter floods. However, the plea states Punjab government did not take action in the matter.

The plea holds the provincial government responsible for destruction by floods in the ongoing year. Dozens of lives have been lost in floods and crops grown on thousands of acres of land are useless. The petition states that if judicial inquiry of the commission was held, the destruction would have been lesser.

The petitioner has requested the court to order registration of cases against the people who neglected report regarding judicial commission.
