Nepra had directed K-Electric to submit a report regarding power situation by July 13.

KARACHI (Web Desk) – A deadline given by the National Electric Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to K-Electric to submit a report regarding recent power crisis in the metropolis expires today (Monday), Dunya News reported.

Parts of Karachi suffered fourth consecutive power breakdown today and power supply could not be restored nearly six hours after the blackout.

According to K-Electric, tripping of the 220 kV Pipri-ICI transmission line has disrupted supply to 10 out of 64 grids. Humidity level in Pipri was at 99% which caused the tripping.

Nepra had directed K-Electric to submit a report regarding power situation by July 13.

If the K-Electric failed to submit report, the regulatory authority will take action on its own.

On the other hand, Nepra Fact Finding Committee has finalised its reports, stating that K-Electric could not boost power generation from its resources while transmission and distribution system is also faulty.
